Our Team

Here at Sonshine Valley Farms we specialize in cut flowers from seed to bloom, servicing the local community.

Nick has been around gardens and this property many times while growing up. His mom was the gardener for the previous owner. Today Nick continues to use his expertise and experience to help maintain the grounds on all levels. Being a graduate of the local Master Gardener program, his passion shows in the property’s overall looks. Nick is a major part of the SVF team. In his spare time, Nick is headed for his Black Belt in Mixed Martial Arts. He also likes canoeing; he participates in the annual one day 70 mile canoe regatta. For relaxation, Nick plays the bass guitar.

Sherri is one of those unique inspired types that can look at a bare, empty piece of ground and within minutes, design an exquisite, pleasing garden.   Sherri came to SVF in the winter of 2007 with gardening ideas for the following spring and summer. Things have not been the same since.    SVF’s gardens and landscaping have taken a turn for better since she has been on board. The inspirational design ideas along with her growing knowledge are indispensable.    She continues to raise the bar. Sherri’s interests are music, art and the practice of Reiki.

Norm retired from his partnership at Green Brothers Apple Hills in Binghamton in 1999.    Today he works here at SVF as a builder-fixer-handyman maintaining much of the property’s constant needs.   Being the senior member of the SVF team, his wisdom and experience is respected by all.

Jim is the newest member of the SVF team. He started with us in the spring of 2010. In May he married his college sweetheart and bought a house five months later, all this while being our teams do anything guy. We call him our “Event Production Specialist” which fits him perfectly. His technical knowledge and ability make him an asset to the team. Jim and his new wife used to enjoy mountain biking and SCUBA diving. Now they just make payments on their new dwelling.

April began here in 2006. Besides being our office manager, she keeps us all inline, on time and looking intelligent. Coming from a banking background, she has the organizational skills to keep SVF on the right track.    Along with her husband they have two sport-active children, one in college and the other in high school.

Renee came to SVF in 2010.   She has helped keep the farm property beautiful and maintained. Renee also became involved in our flower business in many of its aspects.   She is a Master Gardener with many years of experience, and a great love for the outdoors. She shares her knowledge of birds, plants, and grasses.     Renee has a background in Graphic Design and Illustration.     She enjoys cooking, travel, painting, the theater and opera.

Jeffrey came to Sonshine Valley Farms in 2001.   The son of a farmer and the co-owner of a produce farm and roadside market for 25 years, Jeffrey has a lifetime of agricultural experience.   For almost 10 years, Sonshine Valley Farms has greatly benefited from Jeffrey’s diverse knowledge, “jack-of-many-trades” ability, and his good nature. His positive attitude combined with an inventive character, integrity and faith make him a man of example.  Jeffrey also enjoys photography and being a pilot.   When he is not taking pictures or flying, you can find him riding his Harley, playing the piano, camping, or enjoying time with his wife, two daughters and son-in-law.

Sonshine Valley Farms would also like to acknowledge and thank these members of our staff and team.   They have been a significant part of our growth along with our full-time staff.    Whether they have worked full-time, part-time,  or seasonally…we are grateful for their contributions to the property and team.

Sylvia Schiffman, Carolyn Tirpok, Ben Peak, Kris Boyce, and Dan Ferarro.

A special thanks in memory of Glenn Green ~ Gone from our gardens, but always in our hearts…
